Form/Digital Heart (2016)
Form/Digital Heart was completed for my Post Production class during my Fall 2016 semester. This project was my first use of 3D animation in a more extensive manner with each shot requiring some sort of 3D modeling and lighting. Additionally, I had to create 2D animated textures to apply to the 3D objects. For example, the figures on the cubes were generated with green screen, composited within photoshop for color, and then the sequence of images was assigned to the cube.
The themes explored focus on how we connect in a digital age with emphasis on romantic/sexual connections. Are these connections real and meaningful in a non-physical space? What happens when we depend too much upon digital connections? The sugary colors of the empty room, the phone, and the wifi, is simultaneously seductive any sickening.
